Welcome to the Tax Stamp Database

Getting Started · Last updated Jul 13, 2026

What Is the Tax Stamp Database?

The Tax Stamp Database is a global reference platform for tax stamp and traceability programmes on excisable products such as tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, and petroleum. It brings together the excise authorities that run these programmes, the technical specifications of the stamps themselves, and consumption data for the products they cover.

The platform is developed and maintained by Reconnaissance International, the publisher of the tax-stamps.org industry resource.

What Can You Do with the Platform?

  • Browse Tax Stamp Programmes — See every known programme worldwide, filtered by country, authority, product type, and status
  • Explore Stamp Specifications — Technical detail on the stamps themselves: stamp type, substrate, adhesion method, security features, coding and machine-readable formats
  • Track specification history — See how a programme's stamp design has changed over time, including when older specifications were retired
  • Review Excise Authorities — The federal, state, regional, and local bodies responsible for running tax stamp programmes
  • Analyse Product Consumption — Legal, illicit, and estimated-stamp volumes by country, product, and year
  • Look up Countries — Country-level pages combining authorities, programmes, and consumption history in one place
  • Manage your team — Organisation administrators can invite colleagues, assign roles, and manage seats from the Team Management page

Subscription Plans

The Tax Stamp Database is available in several subscription tiers:

  • Guest — Free preview access to a limited selection of countries (no account required)
  • Basic — Full access for individual analysts, with a small team seat allowance
  • Premium — A larger team seat allowance for growing teams
  • Enterprise — Unlimited team seats and full access to every country

Your organisation's subscription tier is shown next to your name in the top-right user menu. If you are on a guest or basic plan and need access to more countries or more team seats, contact your account manager to discuss upgrading.
