Quantum Base is a UK technology company specialising in quantum-based authentication solutions for product and document security. A spin-out from Lancaster University, the company was founded to commercialise the Q-ID®, an innovative security feature invented by Professor Robert Young.Q-ID consists of microscopic atomic-scale ‘fingerprints’ that create a unique and irreproducible signature for each label or printed item. These signatures can be authenticated using a standard smartphone camera, enabling highly secure, low-cost verification without the need for specialised readers.Protected by a substantial patent portfolio, the technology is licensed to security printers, tax stamp manufacturers and other authentication partners for use in excise tax stamps, brand protection labels and secure documents.
